It provides 40 hours of training, which is a state and national standard for entry-level mediators. The course is designed for individuals who are interested in mediating or applying the process of mediation to their profession or in their workplace.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste">Previous participants include business people, attorneys, government staff and administrators, educators, counselors, team leaders, human resource professionals, therapists, realtors, and municipal officials. Course work will address:</div>

<li>definition and roles of the mediator</li>
<li>stages of resolution</li>
<li>conflict diagnoses and interventions</li>
<li>diversity and bias awareness</li>
<li>professional standards and ethics</li>
<li>effective communication interventions</li>
<li>power imbalance identification and management skills</li>
</ul>

<div id="_mcePaste">The program is highly interactive and relies on demonstration, simulations, and role-playing. The Instructors will be available to consult individually with students during the month following the training to discuss their next steps in the field.</div>
